Lynne Hackles is a popular English-born writer, well known in professional writing circles, who, for over twenty years has lectured with humour and vivacity.

Always Get Paid for Your Writing Skills

Wasn't it old Dr Johnson who said: "No man but a blockhead ever wrote, except for money?" Well, Lynne Hackles was a youthful scribe who followed the great man's drift of thought. For her first words on the page, she received the princely sum of £2 and has followed this success in her career as a professional author, short story writer, columnist, ghostwriter, writing workshop leader and successful television contestant.

Diversity

"I suppose you could call me a Butterfly Writer," said Hackles, "as I flit from one thing to another. My first attempt at writing a book Racing Start was accepted by the first publisher I sent it to (Blackie & Son) way back in 1991. This was for pre-teens. I then contributed to Don't Make Me Laugh, (Heinemann) an anthology of stories for children. Other contributors included Penelope Lively, Anne Fine, Michael Rosen and Roger McGough. My short stories have appeared in nearly all of the women's weekly magazines in the UK and in Australia and the Netherlands.

"I work as a tutor for a leading correspondence school and as a writing consultant for an online advice site, Greatvine. I am also a course leader at Writers' Holiday, Caerleon, Wales and have led workshops for writing groups all over the UK."

Hackles continues to write the My Writing Day page for Writing Magazine each month, together with her column, Novel Ideas.

Television Appearance

This is one writer who can obviously keep her cool and proved this admirably when she appeared on the Channel 4's Deal Or No Deal with British TV presenter, Noel Edmonds. She gambled between 10p and £75,000 and was thrilled that the gamble paid off.

Hackles is a Member of The Society of Authors, The National Association of Writers' Groups and The Society of Women Writers and Journalists.
